Traveling Rite Along the Merrimack Valley

Charlie Bacon’s son caught a “Red Fish” which the boat’s captain said is one the best tasting fish.   No truth to the story that its bright color is attributable to the fish being caught near the Seabrook nuclear plant!

Fishermen poise in the bow after a day of fishing.  Several of the Masonic fishermen proudly wore their tee shirts from the Grand Master’s Fair on June 13th.  The shirts announced “We’re the 11th” (District) on the front and “But we are # 1” on the back.

Baseball Mascots “Canaligator”

 and “Allie-gator”

Canalization (found in 1996 in a Lowell canal) pointed to the Masonic shirts being worn by most of the 80 members of the Valley’s Family Life baseball outing.  He then pointed to himself and nodded his head to pronounce that he too is a Mason.

No one at the ballgame admitted to be at the third degree raising of Canaligator, but he sure did exhibit Brotherly Love to our group.

So did his lady-friend, Allie-gator!  She paid particular attention to “Bud” Crowninshield, 32o, MSA and nominee to receive the 33rd degree in Milwaukee in September.  Bud said Allie was really affectionate, but everyone else knew that Allie was putting the squeeze on Bud because he is the Valley Treasurer and he hadn’t paid the bill yet for the barbeque ribs, steak tips and other finger-licking food at the Gator-Pit barbeque located at the Lowell ballpark.

The barbeque and the gators proved to be the highlight of the night.   The Lowell Spinners is a Red Sox farm team.  They lost 8-1; eight unearned runs!

Family Life Fishing Trip

The second annual Valley sponsored fishing trip was a great success.  Organized through the tireless efforts of Charles Rutledge, 32o, the Master of Ceremonies of the Merrimack Valley Lodge of Perfection, the boat trip was an enjoyable day for Masons and their guests.

Near 40 Scottish Rite Masons, prospective members and sons of Masons enjoyed a day at sea.  Cod, halibut and a “Red Fish” were caught, along with many unwanted dogfish.  Plans are being made for the third annual fishing trip in 2005.
